Meal Time Rules & Ayurvedic Aloo Gobi

Icy Bird Bush
The seasons are shifting and Mother Nature is putting ups a really good fight.  Yesterday started out at 5 degrees below freezing.  This morning, we woke up to freezing rain, slushy soggy snow and NO SCHOOL!! Calcedony will be spending her snow-day with us working in the kitchen.  Even with all the chaos....spring is in the air! The geese and ducks have returned to our wetlands...this is a true sign that the shift has begun.  Oh, and my seed catalogs have started arriving in the mail....and the bathing suits are out in the malls ....we can't ignore the signs people! Can I get a happy dance?!

From a Polarity stand point we would say that the frozen Water around us is stuck.  We always mirror our environment....so, are you feeling stuck today?  Stuck physically or emotionally? Water is a very emotional element and it wants to flow.  If possible allow yourself to sit in this frozen pause....it won't last long....it never does.  Fall into the experience - knowing that it won't last and change is right around the corner.

We will honor the weather and stay tucked inside today.  Brian and I will be making medicated oils and  Kushmanda Avaleha (a likable rejuvenative). We have also been working hard at following our dietary regimes.  I made a yummy Ayurvedic Aloo Gobi recipe...minus the deep fryer.  I'm adapting some of our favorite recipes...I don't want to miss out on the tastes, textures and memories of my comfort foods.  Sharing meals is a vital part of life, and should be respected.

Ayurvedic Aloo Gobi

Meal time rules:
*Sit at the table
*Bless your food and the people preparing it
*Eat slowly - chewing food until it becomes a liquid
*Sip hot water
*Breathe and focus on your plate/bowl

DO NOT:
Eat standing
Eat in front of the TV
Eat in the car
Frozen Totem

These rules look pretty simple, but we are such a fast moving society...we simply forget!  Take it down a notch...sit down and honor your meal and your digestion.

Aloo Gobi is a potato cauliflower dish.  We love the earthiness of this dish.  It was a perfect compliment to the cold wet weather we've been dealing with. For the my Ayurvedic version of Aloo Gobi Click here.  Enjoy and stay warm!

Blessings to all!
Sweet Potato kisses!
Namaste`
