Healing the Wise Earth Way!

Garden Stir-fry

My little Glam Girl!
Our garden is blooming with produce! Which means that my days have been filled with canning and freezing goodies for the winter. This has been a time for me to enjoy my kitchen Sadhana that we learned from Wise Earth Ayurveda.  Sadhanas are practices that awaken our ancestral memories.  We honor the seeds and foods that come from them.  We give thanks for the nourishment and work to create harmony while preparing and eating our food.  All of these practices are surrounded with love - love that we share with others at our table. We've roasted and frozen a bushel of tomatoes, pickled beans, created a wonderful spicy salsa and made a wonderfully hot Kimchi!  Kimchi is a spicy raw Korean pickle. Full of healthy probiotics and, will add a kick to any plate.(I know a few of you ladies have been itching to try a hand at making Kimchi....well I've got a kicker of a recipe!  We'll just need to set the date!) Needless to say, this post is going to be short.

We manifested our garden with the goal of having more control over the foods that we eat. It became a labor of love and healing for the entire family. We experimented with several types of Heirloom Tomatoes. In the spring it was tough going with all the rain.  Brian would have to wear long sleeves, pants and a bug net on his head just to get our greens for juicing - the Skeeters were awful!!  We're already planning to expand our garden beds for next year.

All this planting has made me pause with amazement at how Mother Nature works her magic.  Planting is a way for us to express self love. Weeding and caring for our garden has added depth to our pantry.
Working in the garden is another Sadhana that allows you to slow down and become more grounded with Mother Earth.  A little dirt does the body good!

Zucchini and summer squash overtaking your house yet?  Below is one of the many quick recipes I whip up when squash start flooding my kitchen.

Garden Stir-fry

Olive oil or Ghee
1 onion chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
2 in piece ginger peeled & minced

2 zucchini chopped
2 summer squash chopped
2 celery chopped
4 tomatoes chopped

1 can organic black beans rinsed
red pepper flakes
salt & pepper

Put oil or Ghee in pan and saute onion until soft.  Add garlic and ginger stirring until fragrant.
Add zucchini, summer squash and celery.  Cook until fork tender. Add tomatoes and beans - toss lightly.  Add red pepper flakes to your liking. Salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with a tossed salad and enjoy.

Time to hit the kitchen - I have a mound of beans waiting for me!

Blessing to All!
Sour pickle kisses!
Namaste!
Naomi
