Happy Thanksgiving ~ to all our family, friends, students and clients!
We all have many things to be thankful for and now more than ever is a time to take pause and reflect. Today with the snow falling and the kitchen warm with a pie in the oven, I had one of those amazing realizations of just how tiny we are in the great scheme of life. With deep focus on perfecting my crust - all else fell away. My focus on the task at hand allowed the usual monkey chatter to stop. Hhmmm...challenge alert....during the holiday festivities ahead I challenge you to walk with a gentle step, speak with kind words and truly give to each other from the heart. We are one people - with one planet and we need to care for it and share with each other.
As promised, this is the recipe for my Swirled Chocolate-Pumpkin Pie
You can see a quick video on how I make my gluten-free pie crust on our Facebook page - Elemental Ayurveda
Have a wonderful time with your loved ones and remember the rules:
*Watch your food-combining
*Drink hot water
*Make sure all 6 tastes are on your plate
*Eat desert first!! (Brian's favorite!)
Love to all from our heart to yours~

Boosting Your Health with Dates!
Wow...what a year of changes! I haven't posted in a very long time because, we have been transitioning our home practices and that trickles into every other aspect of our world. Change is always a good thing - even though we must endure the chaos that precedes it.
Now that we have completed our 21-Day Autumn Detox (Congratulations to everyone that attended!) it's time to start thinking about the holidays, and how we can maneuver through them with the least amount of damage.

From a Polarity stand point we would say that the frozen Water around us is stuck. We always mirror our environment....so, are you feeling stuck today? Stuck physically or emotionally? Water is a very emotional element and it wants to flow. If possible allow yourself to sit in this frozen pause....it won't last long....it never does. Fall into the experience - knowing that it won't last and change is right around the corner.

Winter Spice & Dragon's Breath
The Winter season has arrived. For a moment we thought we might get to sneak through the season like you guys down south. Well...it wasn't in the cards, and the white stuff has finally arrived. Today as we look out the window, the winter storm has taken a break, and the sun has started to shine on the snow. The birds feed on the seed that Brian has put out for them, and then they scatter when startled - take a break and return when the coast is clear. There is an ebb and flow to their movements. We need to blend with what nature is demonstrating. The weather is all over the place, the birds are all over the place...guess what...we're all over the place. Monday, January 4, 2016

We're back!!!! It has been a very long, exciting, exhaustive year. I found I needed to pace myself and my schedule with care - keeping up with a blog....well....it just needed to go on the back burner.
Brian and I both went back to school, at Amrit Yoga Institute. He completed his studies and is now a Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant. I completed my studies with Amrit Institute and received my Degree of Associate of Science in Ayurveda with International University of Yoga and Ayurveda. I am now a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner. http://www.iu-ya.org

Bringing in Spring the Wise Earth Way
| Mixing in the veggies |
One more week to go before I head south for my Panchakarma therapy. Our home has become really creative with our Kitchari recipes.(See Job's Tears and Adzuki Bean Kitchari recipe below) Keeping it simple and warm is our motto. We eat this way most of the time, so it wasn't an extreme change me. The challenge has been the amount of fluids I have to drink. All of my supplementation comes in liquid. Liquids are easier for my system to assimilate. So far I'm feeling pretty good most of the time. Some days are great (usually sunny ones) and some days I need to rest and put my feet up. Next week will be the challenge - when I start adding medicated Ghee into my routine - 9 teaspoons of medicated Ghee per day. Gulp!! The fun is just starting!!
