Blueberry Chocolate Smoothie

This weekend I have been working on creating Ayurvedic Properly-Food Combined smoothie.  You know the drill - Eat fruit alone, don't combine carbs and proteins - that whole drill. As the temperature outside starts to cool our summer smoothies need to change temperature as well (not that you should EVER have an icy smoothie - I'm just saying).  This is the recipe that I came up with.

I will alternate days that I have smoothies or juice.  After chewing/drinking my smoothies I'll wait about an hour an then have my soaked almonds.

 Blueberry Chocolate Smoothie

1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
5 dates soaked in 1 cup of water
1 Tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon raw cacao
1/2 teaspoon raw vanilla powder or vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Place ingredients including soaking water into blender in order listed.
Enjoy!!

Yes the Chia seeds are a protein, but they also help to bulk up stool and we want to keep our pooper happy.
Cacao can be a little difficult to digest but so yummy.  The chili powder helps to digest the cacao.

My goal was to balance the cooling berries with the stimulation and heating of the cacao and chili.
