Bringing in Spring the Wise Earth Way

Mixing in the veggies
Panchakarma Update:
One more week to go before I head south for my Panchakarma therapy.  Our home has become really creative with our Kitchari recipes.(See Job's Tears and Adzuki Bean Kitchari recipe below) Keeping it simple and warm is our motto.    We eat this way most of the time, so it wasn't an extreme change me.  The challenge has been the amount of fluids I have to drink.  All of my supplementation comes in liquid. Liquids are easier for my system to assimilate.   So far I'm feeling pretty good most of the time.  Some days are great (usually sunny ones) and some days I need to rest and put my feet up. Next week will be the challenge - when I start adding medicated Ghee into my routine - 9 teaspoons of medicated Ghee per day.  Gulp!!  The fun is just starting!!

Naomi & Brian explaining the power of vibration
Spring is in the air.  How do I know?  Well many of the birds have returned and are singing happily at our feeder.  The temperature has started to rise and the snow is slowly starting to melt. This is the beginning of spring and we are now entering that seasonal transitional time; a time of great vulnerability.

As Mother Nature awakens from her long rest she will go through a cool, damp and wet period before she completely begins to warm.  "As without - so within" is something that Dr Stone would say.  We will mirror Mother Nature and present with the same qualities inside our bodies.   You may possibly start feeling heavy in the chests, your sinus cavities may start filling or draining, and you could possibly start feeling vulnerable.  We all  feel a bit raw and striped down - just as the world around us is raw and striped down after this arctic winter that just wants to linger.  We all have an accumulation of Kapha (earth/water) as winter comes to a close.  As we shift seasons and the weather becomes warmer and softer we can begin to think about cleaning our bodies. Time to eliminate those holiday cookie pounds and step into those New Year's Resolutions that you made in January.  This is a time of rebirth and renewal as everything begins to grow again. Once the snow melts and the weather becomes a little more temperate.....you guys all need to think CLEANSE!! Even a one day soup fast will make your body happy.  Start small and we'll gradually help you work your way into a full Panchakarma.
My Sherpa's Brian & Mikhail

This weekend we celebrated spring with a Wise Earth Ayurveda Spice Grind.  Everyone made it even though the  weather was gifting us with another layer of snow.  When will it end? I'm dreaming of green...green grass and bare feet!

We gathered together to raise our vibrations with chanting, roasting and grinding spices. The Masala that we created was designed to bring all six tastes (sweet, sour, salt, pungent, bitter & astringent) to our plates/pallet.  Making Masala's is kitchen medicine. The practice will bring balance to your mind, body and spirit.  Cooking and eating dishes that are prepared with a Masala will improve your digestive fire that will help improve all the systems of the body.   We made a Job's Tears and Adzuki Bean Kitchari using our Spring Masala.  The smell of all the roasting spices was intoxicating. The Wise Earth method is a beautiful way to join as a community and learn foundational Sadhana's (practices) that will help maintain health and balance in your life. This was a Bonus Day of roasting, grinding and chatting with friends.  We all needed to step out of our hibernating caves and gather together for a little fun.

Sticking with my Panchakarma program
Kitcharis are a simple, inexpensive and delicious way to give your digestive system a break. I've been living on traditional Kitchari, simple soups, and vegetable stews for the past month.  Spices are the magic ticket that keep this process from becoming a nightmare. If my tastebuds are happy then Mama's happy! My pallet gets bored easily...soooo....my Kitchari menu has gotten creative. The boys really enjoy my Job's Tears and Adzuki Bean Kitchari because it feels hardy. For the recipe click the link below-
